Overall the Briksmax LED kit for Soundwave #10358 is a solid LED kit. The blue LED strip inside the tape-deck is amazing to look at and the blink and rotate lights on the weapons ad a nice dynamic I really enjoy.
If someone plans on LED kit their Soundwave and not transform it, the kit is very solid overall with one issue being the eye LEDs. The Lego model itself comes with an option to put in yellow eyes (G1 toy) or red eyes (cartoon). However, the Briksmax LED kit includes red LEDs. This means the user cannot make use of the cool option in the LEGO kit itself. No mater which color eye they choose they will glow red. If the LED kit came with white LEDs then the eyes would have been in the color the builder chose instead of forcing red since the LEGO pieces are color transparent and would have shown white tinted into the color they chose.
If one wants to transform their Soundwave every one and a while to "player" mode here are a few other issues. Below each "rib" on the torso the LED kit includes a 1x4 strip light with LEGO studs to snap under the model. These lights are great, except the 1x4 side blocks where the legs fold in to transform. However Briksmax also makes the same light in 1x2. Had they chosen the 1x2 variant the model could have transformed normally. This is a really easy fix, that would have made this kit better and been really small probably no cost addition change.
In addition to the two rib 1x4s the underside of the model contains a 2x2 round tile light that sits between the legs of the model. In robot this is fine, but when transformed into player mode this sits below the model making it unable to sit on a surface. This Light probable should be positioned in a way to make the model stable in player mode as well. either with a different like component or different placement. When I transform the model I remove this LED snap this on the back.
The Weapon lights can also make transformation difficult, so I recommend making small changes to the placement of the wires while installing the LEDs to leave enough slack to move the weapons to the back, while still maintaining mostly hidden or making them look like they belong.
Attaching images of the 1x4 under rib LED blocking transform, the LED under the model in player mode and the installed yellow eyes, glowing red. as examples
I'm going with a 4* because most users will find the kit great for display purposes. Those who wanted yellow eyes like myself. Or those who like to once in a while fidget with their models and transform it, will find it nice, but slightly irritating that those really simple tweaks could have made this so much nicer.
